The Town’s water is supplied by 5 deep water wells. This water is safer than shallow wells but higher in hardness than surface water. We filter it at the water plant and chlorinate it before it goes to your tap. We include periodic reports to our town residents in the utility bill. If you are looking for more info on the details of the water contact the Town Office.
If you experience a problem with the water quality or supply here are some things you can do to help:
- Turbidity — if you see turbid (discolored) water come out of your tap
- You can call the Town Office and they will notify Public Works of the problem. If there is no answer leave a message.
- We will call you back and come check it out.
- You can also run your outside tap. Sometimes a house service line has been known to release a scale buildup that has occurred in the lines over the years.
- You can call the Town Office and they will notify Public Works of the problem. If there is no answer leave a message.
- A water break
- Sometimes the water mains or a service connection ruptures or breaks. Water will flow underground and eventually make its way to the surface. it can pop up near the break or far away from the break, each circumstance can be different. If the main water line breaks or the service connection is ruptured from the service connection at the property line (the valve in your front yard) to the water main (including the main) it is Town’s responsibility to repair. If it ruptures from the service connection to the house that is the responsibility of the home owner.
- If you see water flowing from the ground or in the street like a spring, call the Town Office they will notify Public Works. We can come and shut off the water supply so more areas are not affected by too much water. We will work on addressing the problem and getting things back to normal as soon as possible. In the case of a water break on your side we can give you references of who to call for help if you need it. Many of our local tradespeople are more than qualified and capable of handling this problem.
- What to expect:
- The Saskatchewan Water Security Agency (SWSA) governs our Town and regulates our water quality and supply. if you experience a loss in water (depressurization) whether it is from a main break or scheduled shutdown, on the town side here is what to expect as of 2014.
- Town will notify the SWSA of a depressurization, follow the necessary regulated steps and work on resolving the problem. it is most likely that a precautionary boil water advisory (PBWA) will be placed on your supply temporarily once pressure returns, to ensure your safety. Sometimes you will also need a temporary water supply. While all of this can be inconvenient to you we will do our best to help you and keep you informed. Thank you for your patience

- Frozen water lines
- While this is a rare occurrence it does happen, usually during the spring thaw as the frost is driven deeper into the ground freezing the water service lines.
- You can call the Town Office to let them know if you have a sudden loss of water supply.
- We will try to address the problem and assist you with a temporary water supply. if your neighbor experiences a loss in water you may be asked to help out by providing a source of water from your house to theirs.
- If you know that your line is suspected to freeze when it has been along cold winter it is advisable to notify the Town Office and take a water meter reading, then run your tap to prevent water from sitting motionless in the line and freezing.

- *** If you have a well ***
- if you have a well that is hooked up to your house plus a service connection from the town’s supply you must have a check valve installed in your line coming from the town. There is a risk of pushing your well water back into the Town’s supply introducing a risk of cross contamination of our water supply. Please call the Town Office it you have a well and a town service line so we can come and help you check it to make sure the necessary steps are followed to reduce/eliminate the risk of cross connections.
- All new construction is required to have a double check valve installed on their service line to protect our water supply
