Business Owners: Waldheim had the lowest municipal property tax gap in Saskatchewan in 2015.
CFIB’s annual comparison of property taxes between Saskatchewan municipalities revealed, on average, commercial property owners paid 2.23 times what residential owners paid in municipal property tax in 2015. The property tax gap is a measure of property tax fairness for small businesses.
This year’s edition of Wanted: Property Tax Fairness in Saskatchewan is the ninth in a series of reports examining municipal and total property tax gaps in the 75 municipalities and 31 Rural Municipalities (RMs) with populations of 1,000 or greater. The tax gap measures the ratio of commercial and residential property tax bills for properties assessed at $200,000.
Some key findings include:
- Waldheim had the lowest municipal property tax gap at 0.97 in all of Saskatchewan!
