What is going on in the Town of Waldheim Public Works these days?
- CURRENT PROJECTS
We are currently working on camera and video of our clay tile sewer mains to inspect them for damage, cracks or root problems and also clean them. If you see us working in your area thank you for working around our crew. Be mindful of their workspace please, if you have any concerns or questions you can call the town office. We try to do half of the town every year for sewer mains, but with the camera work we have had to change our schedule in order to fit our budget. We’re concentrating on the older lines until all of the camera work is done. This helps us do a plan for asset management and repairs if needed.
We’re also almost finished repairing culverts and continuing to clean pea gravel out of the ditches from the sanding of the streets in winter. We will be continuing to work on our ditches this summer as time allows.
- TENDERS
We currently have two tenders out. One for Infrastructure Upgrades, Water and Sewer mainlines, and the other one is for a new Water Treatment Plant. Public works has been meeting potential bidders and going over design and continued contact with our engineers throughout this process. When we have a successful winner for the tender we will begin the process of the actual construction which is kind of exciting. But it will also be an inconvenience for some people in the area where the work is occurring. Public works will be in contact with you closer to that day. We will try to organize a plan for you and the work taking place, and keep you up to date when the work begins in your area.
- OUR TOWN
Thank you for staying off the side of the pavement with the soft edges and being careful of our road edges this spring. I have noticed less traffic on the sides than other years which saves us money on pavement repairs. Please continue to be diligent with this as it saves our roads and keeps the town looking nice.
Also thank you to those who have been helping clean up unwanted garbage in our ditches.
